International Media Support (IMS) is a non-profit organisation working to strengthen the capacity of media to reduce conflict. It’s promise of Good journalism. Better societies sums up their vision. IMS pushes for quality journalism, challenges repressive laws and keeps media workers of all genders safe, so they can do their jobs. Through alliances and innovation, they help free, independent media contribute to positive change and better societies.
Sydneysider Chris (surname withheld to protect him) has been working with IMS in Myanmar but has recently been moved, along with the other staff members, to an undisclosed location in SE Asia for their safety. He joined the Newsroom to speak about the conflict that swept over Myanmar when the military rejected the election results and took power.
