This piece is an exploration of the effects of intergenerational change and migration on Chinese cultural traditions, with emphasis on how diasporic experience affects interpretation of ritual. Focusing on the traditions of the Tomb Sweeping Festival, this project features a blend of my personal narration and an interview with my brother. It discusses how we have experienced the traditional date as first-generation immigrants who’ve subsequently moved around the world – and how that might change how we practice traditions with future generations.
